In the course of normal bike conversation, over the cacophony of street noises in SE Portland, the idea for Create the World Day was born in April 2005.

We wondered what would happen if we opened up our home for a day over the weekend and invited our 300 closest friends to come share things that they were passionate about? It was our belief that we could sit enthralled and listen to anyone talk about something for at least 10 minutes, maybe even 20 minutes. It seemed important that we listen, that we share and that we come together as a community around this idea.

The name "Create the World" was inspired by the notion (not new) that we can, in fact, create the world that we want to live in. We should not wait for others to create the world for us.

Since that moment of inspiration, we have hosted numerous, wonderfully exciting Create the World days. Amazing things have happened each time. We would love to support others in sponsoring a Create the World day in their communities. Please contact us if you are interested.
